Edgar and Stratford both have won seven Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association championships since the WIAA formed a football playoff system in 1976. The programs are tied with Lancaster for the most state titles, and it's run which is chronicled in this book. High school football is known to bring communities together for at least one night each week. In Edgar and Stratford, football has also helped to define those communities.

A postcard from 1909 launched Alan Gurtner's interest in finding pictures of Unity's early days. In 2000, he began interviewing Unity residents who shared their photos and postcards. His copies of the photos and postcards evolved into this book.
